Frequently Asked Questions

1.   What kind of railcars do you clean?  All types of Tank and Hoppers are cleaned.

2.   How do you clean the railcars?  We use a portable steam boiler to heat up tank cars. The excess commodity is then removed.

Food grade railcars are then washed with a 3500 psi 180 degree hot water power washer. We also use a food grade detergent if needed.

Petroleum based commodities are first washed with a closed loop diesel cleaning system after the excess commodity is removed. Then the railcars are washed with a 3500 psi 180 degree hot water power washer.

All tank railcars are then dried with air handlers before being sealed.

Hopper railcars are cleaned in the same general method. The excess commodity is removed, then the car is washed with a power washer and dried before sealing.

3.   What do you do with the commodity once it is removed from the railcars?  All commodities are disposed of utilizing various OSHA approved methods and facilities unless the customer requests the commodity to be returned to them and the proper arrangements have been made.

4.   Do you provide before and after pictures?  Yes, before pictures are sent with our cleaning estimate. After pictures are sent with the cleaning certificate when disposition is requested.

5.   What kind of turnaround time can you provide on my railcars?  Most railcars are turned around within a 5 days period depending on the quantity of railcars being cleaned. We can even guarantee that your railcar be cleaned in a specific time frame otherwise the base clean is free. Some restrictions apply, contact us for more details!
